Leisure Lakes Bikes Review

Giro Rodeo Kids helmet

Being a third child, little man is used to hand me downs. However, he has an exceptionally large head meaning that when it comes to learning to ride a bike he needs one of his own as his head is the same size as middle man. We were offered to purchase an item for review from Leisure Lakes Bikes so we decided on a Giro Rodeo Kids Helmet. You can find more of the helmets they stock here.

I must say that I had never heard of the company before but they are a family business with 8 shops around the UK. I found their site a little confusing at first as I was unsure if everyone can purchase a product that has VIP by it. Looking into it, you can but you can also pay to be a VIP member and that then gives you a discount of many items. Looking through the helmets quite a few were out of stock, but as I wasn't in a rush I ordered one anyway, knowing that it would be a few weeks wait. This is where I was really impressed with the customer service team. They e mailed me the day later to check that I knew that there was a wait and asking if I still wanted my order processed.

When the helmet arrived by Royal Mail I was really pleased. It is well made, has a curved fastener round the chin and can be easily adjusted to fit the child's head.

Here is a little video I made of the product and showing little man learning to use his balance bike.

If you watched the video you will see that little man was going so slowly that he probably doesn't even need a helmet. However, I believe that should start as you mean to go on and he will soon be whizzing around the place, and definately need it. For £19.99 with free postage, I think this is a good buy.

I was given the product for the purpose of the review but the opinions here are my own.

The helmet fits him perfectly and if he does happen to take a tumble at least he will be protected - roll on many happy days riding his bike. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

If he ever goes fast enough to tumble :-) Give him a few weeks and he will probably be a speed demon

Love those balance bikes, at the time son #1 needed one they seemed too expensive but with four we would have made a worthwhile investment. #countrykids

We bought it for middle man and he never used it. Glad that one of them is now!

Always made sure my kids wore helmets - never forgive myself if something had happened.

Louise Fairweather said...

It is sooooo important. I get upset when I see kids and adults without them

Louise Fairweather said...

Yes I suppose they are a bit like car seats - you have to know that they will work if they need too

Louise Fairweather said...

:-) Of course that was totally planned

good review and it is important to start the children wearing their helmets early

I think it is a good thing to get children used to helmets when small so it is less of an issue when they are older.

Looks cool enough for kids to want to wear one. my boys and nieces and nephews know to wear a safety helmet when riding their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and skates

My little boy who is 4 is still far too small for his balance bike - its wooden and I think - a little heavy, this one looks perfect!

He looks great in it and good idea to get him used to it now!

I'm a real big believer in cycle helmets, and if they wear them right from the beginning, hopefully there won't be a problem later. We bought my partner's 3 children cycle helmets when their mum decided they had to bicycle to school (primary school age!), they kicked up a fuss and their mum told them they weren't necessary, I was so annoyed, we weren't doing it score points, we simply wanted them to be safe. I honestly believe with the roads as busy as they are now it should be made law.

excellent advice on helmets,so many children of all ages are injured because they don't wear one

there are still too many children being hurt because they haven't got a helmet so it's great to read this post!

It gets so hard to get children to wear helmets as they get older....

Excellent post would be good to see a lot more people making sure their kiddies have the correct helmets for protection like this :)
