Organising Your Kitchen Cupboards With OXO

5 tips to organise your kitchen cupboards

I have been having a major household declutter this year. From our bedroom to middle man's room makeover. Our kitchen cupboards have been my latest project. So here are my 5 easy steps to get your kitchen cupboards organised.

1. Throw away out of date ingredients.

I am sure I am not the only person that has a bottle of soy sauce or similar that is a couple of years out of date. Go through and check that everything is within it's use by date and discard anything else.

2. Combine double purchases.

I tend to buy products on special offer. It seems that I then open a packet push it to the back of the cupboard and open a new one. I had 3 packets of caster sugar open as well as 2 chocolate milkshake powders.

3. Put ingredients you use the most low down and to the front.

Also make sure that you have your shelves at the right height. It wasn't until I look my "before" photo that I realised that if I moved my shelf one rung higher I could fit in the large packets of cereal that I was keeping in the utility room!

4. Invest in some storage containers.
This is where OXO comes in. They provided me with 3 of their Good Grips POP containers. I have to say I am really impressed. They have a button on top that you press to open and then press to seal tight.

oxo pop containers

They are a good size. This is important as there's no point in buying a bag of sugar and only fitting half in. They have a clever locking system. Yes they are on the expensive side, but that is because they are a product that will last you a long time. I am certainly going to look at investing in some of the smaller containers to get my cupboards organised even further.

oxo storage containers

5. Label your containers.
This is something I am rubbish at. Often I am looking at a white powder wondering if it's corn, plain or self raising flour. A quick label makes things so much easier in the long run.

So here are my before

unorganised kitchen cupboard

and after pictures.

organised kitchen cupboard

I think there is a big difference and the OXO Good Grips POP containers have certainly helped. Have you got any tips on how I can organise my kitchen further?

Ooh I need to get me some of those containers. Our cupboards are a state! #triedtested

Oh, I envy your cupboards, even in the before state!

The OXO containers look great, especially if they're from the good grips range which I'm guessing makes them easier to use for people with hands that don't work like me... #triedtested

For a moment there I thought you had two tins of chocolates waiting to be eaten - yum! I really should do this. We have three bottles of tomato ketchup, and I keep buying more when they're on offer. Before too long, the ketchup will take over....

Those storage jars look great. I really need to check what is lurking in my cupboards #TriedTested

I can guarantee you that with me in the house there will never be 2 full tubs of celebrations :-D

Yes they are super easy to undo. Actually my Mum would probably find them useful as she has problems with her hands x

Well that's me sold then. I have EDS so I can't grip at all, I have to use rubber bands and those jar opener things all the time. Normal containers normally result in me spilling everything spectacularly as I try and pull the top off forcefully! Quite excited at the thought of organised cupboards, thank you :)

I was a bit OCD when I was younger, but since having children I've relaxed, and I'm so glad I have. So what if things aren't spotless, or a fraction out of place?

I am a little organised, more so than I used to be, but there's definitely room for improvement there lol!!

If I buy something on offer like a bogof I put in a seperate stock pile cupboard.
I put cereal in sepetrw plastic containers abit ike your oxo ones and put them on the table ina n evening ready for breakfast the next day. It means you can buy the really big boxes of cereal and make savings but still fit them in the cupboard

looks great! i like to organise my cupboards in use by date order :-)

don't forget to use the back of your kitchen doors too, hooks for spoons, magnetic strip and a metal pot with herbs in, a blackboard panel for shopping list, or a small shelf and strip of elastic for chopping board.

Claire Barker said...

Excellent organising! I tend to save old coffee jars to put contents of opened packets in. I use a permanent marker to write what it is if it isn't obvious and cut out the use by date from the packaging and tape to the jar.

Fabulous organising! I'm glad it's not just me who has to have totally organised kitchen cupboards! My husband says I have cupboard tidyness OCD!
