Our taxi dropped us off at the Waterfall at Dubai Mall and as we were heading for our trip up the Burj Khalifa we walked straight there. Our first proper look at the Mall was from floor 124. I looked at my husband and said I had expected it to be bigger. He agreed.
I can only assume that the height of the Burj Khalifa distorts your perspective. You are looking at huge skyscrapers that appear tiny in comparison. Walking around the Mall itself I can tell you it is huge!
At 1 and 1.30 each afternoon the fountains dance to music. As we felt the boys couldn't really stay up too late to watch the night shows (which I imagine are even more spectacular) we decided to watch the shows at lunchtime. Each show consists of the fountains dancing to one
piece of classical music and is similar to the fountains outside the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Due to the time of day it gets really hot and you do not need to get there early to see them.
We then decided to explore the Mall. There is every shop you can think of and more.
We loved sitting outside the Aquarium and watching the divers.
We then headed to the taxi rank. Easier said than done! This is when we really realised the scale of the Mall. The fact that the rich can get a taxi around the Mall should have been a clue!
The upside in getting lost is we found an ice rink.
And a statue or two of some camels.
I think a trip to Dubai would always include a trip to the Mall and if we are lucky enough to go again I would love to see the fountains at night.
your photos are wonderful
