This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week and I have a copy of Arvor's School Days by Jonathan Ferrier to giveaway to one of my readers. The book tells the story of a young dyslexic and dyspraxic dragon who finds school challenging.
Arvor is sent to boarding school by his father. he struggles with his school work here. He is bad at spelling, hopeless at games, terrible at flying and a disastrous fire-breather. The teachers get cross with him and his class mates don't want him on their team. His father sees him as a disappointment. However, Arvor has some excellent qualities too. He is kind, gentle and loyal. He is the sort of dragon you would want to be friends with.
The book follows Arvor in his trials and triumphs at the boarding school, Caderbrith, as his curiosity leads him into all sorts of adventures from tackling school bullies, organising a school disco and risking his neck to have the school's prized Golden Egg trophy.
