On Saturday we headed to a deep dark wood (known as Thorndon Country Park) to hunt for the Gruffalo with my sister. Last year we did a trail at the Dean Heritage Centre which had sculptured scenes, but this was more of a walk through the woods. Armed with their maps (the trail is free and a map costs 50p) the boys excitedly worked their way round the forest locating the animals in the Julia Donaldson Classic.
The Mouse found a nut and the nut taste good!
Oh Help, Oh No! It's....
And of course, boys can't step foot in a forest without building a den!
This looks like fun! And love the building of the den, even I would enjoy that :) #WhatsTheStory, #CountryKids.
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic - I'm always envious when I see a post about the Gruffalo hunt, its really far away from us. I;m going to try make plans to go one day :)

ReplyDeleteI am sure Julia DOnaldson could never have envisaged the great phenomenon she was to create when she wrote The Gruffalo - apparently it's his 15th birthday this year and I am sure he will go on to celebrate many more birthdays and give much enjoyment to many more children. Mine may have moved on to older books but I can still recite much of the book by heart!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm so glad I found this! I was just saying in my current post how much my son loves the Gruffalo. I'm thrilled I found this post. What fun!
ReplyDeleteFamiliar characters! My son loves this book now so this wouldve been the bestest trip we can take. But its too far and probably too expensive for us so looking at your photos is the next best thing =) Thanks for sharing. #WhatsTheStory
