Malted Milk Biscuits With Malteaser Topping

It is that time of year again when I try and bake along with The Great British Bake Off and realise just how talented the contestants are. For this bake, I had two little helpers, making the task of biscuit making even harder.

There were arguments over who was measuring what first and no one listened to Mummy when it came to making sure the mixture was rolled out thin. Luckily Mummy won this bake off (purely on the thickness or should I say thinness of the biscuits) so hopefully they will listen to my tips in the future. Who am I kidding!?!

For our first bake we decided to go for a malted milk style biscuit, jazzed up a little with some melted Malteaser chocolate.

Malted Milk Biscuits With Malteaser Topping

  • 150g plain flour
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 25g malted milk drinking powder
  • 100g butter (we used Stork instead)
  • A bar of Malteser chocolate

  1. Preheat the oven to 150C
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, butter and malted milk powder together. Add a touch of water to make a dough.
  3. Using a floured surface and rolling pin to roll out the dough really thin and then cut into shapes and place on greased proof paper.
  4. Bake until golden.
  5. Allow to cool and then melt the Malteaser chocolate.

This week you can see what other bloggers have been baking along over at Mummy Mishaps.

  • My girls are past the stage where they want to help, now they want to bake all on their own. It's great because now we get delicious baked goods and I havent had to lift a finger!
We've never made a malted milk biscuit, I don't know why because everyone loves them. I'm pinning so KayCee can make them for us one day :)

Now that does sound good - as long as they don't leave the kitchen in a mess....

  • I've never thought of melting maltesers to use as a topping for biscuits but it's an inspired idea! Love it!

  • The biscuits look great. I love the idea of melting maltesers, is not something I've seen before.
