It is semi finals in the Bake Off this week which means it is chocolate week. I decided to enlist the help of my star baker, little man, for this bake. If you have been to a Pampered Chef party you may have seen a version of this using ready made pastry. I tried the recipe and it was OK, but in my opinion too much pastry and not enough chocolate. How do you solve this problem? Make chocolate pastry of course! Oh and add 2 chocolate buttons instead of 1.
To make this you will need:
100g of plain flour
20g cocoa powder
30g icing sugar
50g butter
1 egg
1tbsp cold water
1 pouch of Rolos
1 pouch of Giant chocolate buttons
Pre heat the oven to 200C
Mix all the pastry ingredients together to form a dough. I found this to be much stickier than a normal pastry and added a little extra flour.
Put a small ball of dough into each hole in a mini muffin pan and spread it to the sides. Prick the pastry with a fork and add an upside down Rolo to each tart.
Cook for around 10 minutes and then add two giant chocolate buttons on top whilst they are cooling.
My little chocolate bites could have done with a minute less in the oven but they were really tasty and my little star baker was very happy to eat them.
