Last Bank Holiday Monday we enjoyed a day out at Windsor races for their family fun day. We took the boys racing for the first time a couple of years ago at Ascot. This was a rather more relaxed affair. Whilst race goers are encouraged to be smart the dress code is pretty relaxed and jeans are allowed. As it is family day there are a few bits set up for children. Some are free a lot are not. Included free in the entry was seeing the Octonauts which little man was very pleased with.
There were free pony rides and face painting but the queues for these were pretty long so we didn't do them. The fairground rides were around £2.50 a go. As that can really mount up with 3 children we gave them a miss.
Picnics can be taken into the course but there are various other places but food - all at a premium. There were singers playing during the intervals of racing which added to the relaxed atmosphere. Another plus side of the Windsor course was that parking was free. It's only a short walk, so no need to pay the £8 for closer parking. At £25 for a family ticket it is something different to do with the children and was an enjoyable afternoon. Big man was particularly happy to have chosen the only winning horse we had. I'm not sure what we will be spending his £2.50 winnings on! Have you been to a family race day before?
We received a family ticket for the purpose of this review.
We have done race days too, they are great family fun and the kids have had a wonderful time with some little £2 bets on the races. A lovely way to enjoy a family day in the outdoors.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great...a friend mentioned going to watch the Polo near Windsor recently and I didn't think much of it but actually I think S would love the horses. I'll look into when the next races are on. Thanks for sharing this. #magicmoments
ReplyDeleteWe hadn't been into one. Looks so nice and really fun! My son loves Kwazii so he would have enjoyed this event as well =) #magicmoments

ReplyDeleteI went and watched Prince Charles play polo when I was a teenager. I liked that you got to go across the field and press the divets back in when it was half time x
