Campervan Cake Tutorial

One day I was talking to my friend Nicky about what we would do if we won the lottery. Dreaming is good right!?! Her answer was to buy a campervan. Now I think she had a meet the Focker's style one in mind, but I have always imagined her in a VW one instead. She came with me on the cake decorating course I completed recently and then round for tea, so I made her a cake to celebrate her birthday. My inspiration came from a wander round the garden centre. I took a quick picture so I could turn it into a cake for my friend.

I baked a standard sponge in a square cake tin. (8oz self raising flour, 8oz caster sugar, 8oz butter and 4 eggs) I sandwiched it together with vanilla frosting and then placed a picture I had drawn over the cake to cut of the outline.

I then covered this in white royal icing. I then used the drawing I had made to cut out the other parts of the cake in coloured icing.

I then used icing to make the wheels and wing mirrors.

I then finished off my cake using some cake angels decorations and and writing icing to add the last bits of detail.

So what would you buy if you won the lottery? I think I would start by a rather luxurious holiday to relax and think about it.
