I often have mad ideas about setting up another blog. I love cooking and I like to read food blogs. However, after last weeks efforts at making some smoothie ice lollies with the boys, I think I will just stick to writing about my boys. We bought our lolly moulds from 99p Stores and I decided we were going to make smoothie lollies. Then I had the bright idea of making traffic light lollies. That's where it all started to go wrong.
Firstly, I made the mistake of taking the boys to the supermarket to buy the ingredients. Middle man was not happy that I wouldn't buy peas for the green part. One problem of taking children shopping is you end up with a lot more than you went in for. so in addition to the kiwis, yoghurt, peaches and strawberries we required, we came out with apples, a melon and eight AAA batteries.
Next mistake. I let big man help. We mixed up the kiwi mixture, using some of the syrup from the peaches to sweeten it. He then threw it across the kitchen by accident!
After freezing the first layer, I realised I hadn't thought about how I was going to fill them. Each layer needed carefully twisting so the next layer would fit on top - it was a juggling act.
Then once they were all frozen, I realised I had done them upside down!
But after this disastrous attempt at lolly making, did they taste good? Not really - If they had just been peach they would have been fine! I think middle man's pea option may well have tasted better!
I bought the ice lolly moulds as part of the 99p stores blogger challenge.
I love this. I'd be a terrible food blogger mainly because I'm a really rubbish cook.
ReplyDeleteoh dear - but you can do this Louise you know, I have seen people do these. I have not done lollies but I have done three coloured soup. You could be a food blogger - you could SO blog your cakes for a start, they are fab!
ReplyDeleteI can decorate cakes - but can only make a sponge :-)
Deletehahaha! i love this, i think it was a success!!
ReplyDeleteOops! I have started posting my baking recipes on a Sunday but have quickly realised I'll never make it as a foodie blogger...some of the photos they take are amazing! It's a shame the lollies didn't taste nice because (upside down or not!) they actually look really good.
ReplyDeleteI'll just stick to normal orange ones from now on!
