We're Going On A Bug Hunt

As I mentioned a few days ago, butterfly release day was an emotional time for big man and me! So to take his mind off things, I decided to set up a bug hunt he could do. I made a list of things I was pretty sure he would find in our garden and which he could also read. (Please note I wasn't going to put butterfly on there as this would have caused a few more tears!)

mini beast checklist

Excitedly he ran over to his bee house. The bumble bees have yet to find it, but he was sure he would find a woodlouse here. Unfortunately it seems that a spider had found the woodlice first! But it meant we could tick spider off the list. He then went and looked under a plant pot and called me over with an excited shriek. I was pretty disgusted to see the mound of slugs and couldn't see what he was happy about. "Look mummy there!" he said sticking his fingers into the dark mud....

frog, slugs, snail

.....and out hopped a frog! The butterflies were long forgotten, now he had found a little hopping creature to observe!

He went round ticking off all the things on his list. Unfortunately there were no bees. Here is his list updated with his find!

And then he had an even closer look at his frog friend before it jumped away into the flower bed.

This was not our first bug hunt and I can guarantee it wont be our last either!

On your site, you will need to have a home page that lets the reader tell at
a glance (and I mean a glance) what your site is about. Then make money by placing advertising throughout the blog.

You should take at least 3 pictures of each item showing different angles of
the items.
