Beautiful Baby Boy

This is my beautiful baby man. He is not my first boy but will be my last. People ask if I was trying for a girl. They do a disappointed "ah" when I tell them he is my third boy. They expect him to be dressed in hand me down clothes all of the time. (Of course he does have a lot of hand me downs but some lovely ones of his own too.) I wanted another boy but would have been just as happy with a girl. Another little playmate for my boys. I love him to pieces and wouldn't swop him for the world. All I ever wanted was a healthy baby and I was lucky enough to get three. Baby man is a happy smiley baby, who loves his brothers and loves exploring the world. So what do I say when people ask if I was disappointed he wasn't a girl? Well there's a lot of things I could say, but it is easier just to say no. Here he is in his own little outfit at a week old. How could anyone ever be disappointed with this gorgeous little fella?

  1. Good for you! My MIL expressed disappointment when I had my SECOND boy! He received noticeably fewer presents because apparently he 'didn't need them'. Grrr! I would happily have had a third boy too, but I had a little girl and I'm just as happy with her!

I just think people don't really think before they speak. A lot of people seem to disapprove of having more than 2 kids too - but hey that's a whole other blog post! So far all my boys have been so different - they play with different toys - they are their own little people.

  • It really bugs me when people do this to my best friend, she has a 3 year old boy and 2 year old twin boys and not only do people ask if she's disappointed she doesn't have a girl, people also act like she isn't entitled to any more children now that she has three. I get very defensive on her behalf but I just wish people would think before they speak. Your son is beautiful and I hope you and your perfect family are very happy xx

Ah thank you. It seems that people seem to think that everyone should have 2 kids - one boy and one girl! I wouldn't say I have a perfect family but my boys are perfect in my eyes - well most of the time x

You have two gorgeous kids that you should be so proud of. Yes you're lucky cause they are beautiful, polite, well behaved kids and it's irrelevant what sex they are. Trust me you would be shocked at the passing comments you get from friends and strangers if you have two or even worse three of the same sex.

great post and very well said. I had two boys and now have a baby girl and the number of people who have said 'would you have kept trying if she'd been a boy?' and often they think we wanted a third baby just to have a girl! It is totally bizarre isn't it. You certainly do have a beautiful baby boy - he's gorgeous! x

Thanks. Yes it is bizarre. Maybe I would think differently if I had one of each? I'm quite happy with my band of merry men though and my friend has a little girl I can buy pink clothes for.
